Scoil Maelruain Junior recently celebrated Literacy Week with great enthusiasm. Throughout the week, pupils engaged in various activities to experience the joy of reading and storytelling. Our Junior Infants were the focal point, participating in 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar Treasure Hunt'. They also enjoyed a storytelling session with local storyteller Helena Byrne. Our 2nd Classes paired with a Junior Infant class. Some pupils wrote and read stories to a Junior Infant, others chose a book to read to them. This enhanced their reading experience together through paired reading activities.
On Friday, everyone donned their cosy clothes for World Book Day, sharing their favourite books with classmates. It was heart warming to see how our pupils' appreciate reading and the joy of being read to.
