Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from all of the children in First Class. We are glad to be back in school; learning and playing with our friends each day.
We are engaging with plenty of listening games such as 'Simon Says' and 'Deir O'Grádaigh' in our Gaeilge lessons. Our active lessons include lots of movement, as well as our 'Sensory Regulation Circuit' which we practise throughout the day to keep our minds focused. 
We have embraced the theme, 'Food for Fuel' as we explore the many ways in which the food we eat can impact our general health, concentration in school and, sometimes, even our mood! The class is really enjoying trying out new foods as part of our Hot Meals Programme. 
In Literacy, we love to read new books, including our graded readers for homework and our Library books. We are learning about the 'Magic e' in Phonics, and exploring our creativity through 'Free Writing' practice. 
Three additional teachers come into our class every day to assist with our Maths Stations. At the moment the topics we are exploring include: Numeracy and Computations, Problem-Solving, Place Value, Time and Money, all while embracing the Maths Curricular Skills of 'Encouraging Playfulness' and 'Emhpasising Mathematical Modelling'.
