❄️ Sensory Science – Making Snow ⛄

The children explored a fun, hands-on science and sensory activity by making their own artificial snow. We used three simple ingredients — white conditioner, table salt, and baking powder. The children mixed the ingredients and observed how the texture changed to look and feel like real snow.
After creating the snow, the children used their imagination to build small snowmen, adding details with peppercorns, Q-tips, sticks collected during our nature walks, and buttons.
This activity supported several important skills:
-
Scientific exploration – observing how materials change when mixed
-
Fine motor development – moulding and shaping the snow
-
Creativity and imagination – designing their own snowmen
-
Sensory learning – exploring texture through touch
-
Hand strength and grip development – strengthening the muscles needed for handwriting
The children were very engaged and enjoyed experimenting with the “snow”, connecting our learning about winter weather and seasonal changes with a fun and creative activity. ❄️⛄
