🇮🇪 Seachtain na Gaeilge – Our Classroom Door Display 🎶🍀

To celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge, our class worked together to create a vibrant collaborative door display filled with Irish symbols, music, and colour.

The project was designed as a team effort, with each group of children responsible for designing and creating a different part of the display. Through cooperation and creativity, the children brought together many elements of Irish culture and tradition into one colourful piece of artwork.

Each group focused on a different element of the display:

  • One group designed and coloured traditional Irish Celtic knots

  • Another created musical notes and shamrocks

  • A group worked on the rainbows and clouds

  • Another designed the harps, an important symbol of Ireland

  • Some children carefully created the grass landscape

  • One group worked on the girl’s face and hair

  • Another group designed and decorated the clothing

The children explored a variety of art techniques and materials, including drawing, colouring, cutting, assembling, and layering materials to bring the display to life. One of the children even braided the red wool to create the girl’s hair, adding a lovely handmade detail. A tulle skirt was also added, helping to create texture, movement, and visual interest in the final display.

This collaborative project helped develop many important skills, including:

  • Teamwork and cooperation

  • Creative design and artistic expression

  • Fine motor development

  • Planning and problem-solving

  • Appreciation of Irish culture and traditions

As part of our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations, the children also learned a lively Irish song, which they enjoyed so much that we will be performing it at our upcoming school assembly.

The finished display has transformed our classroom door into a joyful celebration of Irish language, music, and culture, and the children are very proud of the role each of them played in creating it. 🍀🇮🇪🎶
