๐ฌ Science Week โ Day 2: The Skittles Experiment ๐

As part of our Science Week, the children carried out a colourful experiment using Skittles, water, and milk in conjunction with Ms Calwey's First Class.
The children first arranged the Skittles in a circle and made predictions about what might happen when different liquids were added. We then poured water into one tray and milk into another, observing how the colours changed and spread.
In the tray with water, the coloured sugar coating dissolved quickly, creating bright rainbow patterns moving towards the centre. In the tray with milk, the colours spread more slowly, forming softer, cloudy swirls.
During the experiment, we discussed:
-
How the sugar coating dissolves in liquid
-
How liquids can carry colour particles
-
Why do different liquids create different effects
-
The importance of making predictions and careful observations
The children were captivated by the results and enjoyed comparing the two trays, making it another engaging day of hands-on scientific exploration. ๐๐งช
