🌱 Science – Planting and Growing 🌿

🌱 Science – Planting and Growing 🌿

The children became young gardeners as we explored how plants grow through hands-on planting and observation.

We planted a sprouted garlic bulb together in class and discussed how it would continue to develop roots and shoots over time. The children were fascinated to discover that something commonly used in cooking can grow into a plant.

Each child also created their own germinated chia seed mini greenhouse using a zip-lock bag. The seeds had already begun to sprout, and the children added soil and water before placing them near the window to continue growing. This allowed them to observe plant growth closely over time.

We discussed what plants need to grow:

  • ☀️ Light
  • 💧 Water
  • 🌱 Soil
  • 🌬️ Air

This activity supported the development of:

  • Understanding how plants grow and change over time
  • Observation and monitoring skills
  • Responsibility and care for living things
  • Scientific vocabulary, including germination, roots, and shoots

The children are looking forward to observing their plants each day and noticing the changes as they continue to grow. 🌿✨
