The children created imaginative paintings exploring the idea of hot and cold places, while also connecting their ideas to Christmas scenes. Their creativity led to some fantastic combinations — from warm cups of hot chocolate and glowing Christmas trees to penguins receiving presents at the North Pole, and even volcanoes beside icy fridges!
Once the artwork was complete, we held a class gallery walk. The children walked around our Art Wall, observing each other’s paintings and practising how to talk about and respond to artwork. They described what they could see, shared what they liked, and discussed what the artist might have been thinking.
