❄️ Christmas Art – 3D Snow Globe Silhouettes 🎨✨

The children created beautiful winter snow-globe scenes using a combination of different art techniques.
Step 1 – Oil Pastel Backgrounds
The children explored warm and cool colours to create colourful winter skies, including sunsets, frosty evenings, and winter horizons. They practised blending oil pastels to achieve smooth colour transitions.
Step 2 – Christmas Silhouettes
Next, the children painted black silhouettes of winter scenes such as trees, houses, snowmen, families, stars, and sleighs. The dark silhouettes created a striking contrast against the bright backgrounds.
Step 3 – Creating a 3D Snow Globe Effect
Finally, we looked at photographs of real snow globes and discussed how light and shadow make objects appear round. The children learned about:
-
✨ Highlights (where light reflects)
-
🌑 Shadows
-
🔵 How light falls on a curved surface
Using this knowledge, the children carefully added highlights and shading to their snow globes to give them a three-dimensional effect.
The children worked with great focus and creativity, producing colourful and imaginative winter scenes that made a wonderful festive display in our classroom. 🎄✨
